Re: Roster going forward — who is sticking around?
Smith may very well leave, I have no idea. But I do think mid-majors are much more likely to keep basketball coaches than football coaches for a couple of reasons: 1. The competition gap is not as big, you can legitimately have a tope 20 program and not be from a Power conference. 2. Every team has...

Re: Batman v. Superman? Smith v. Queta?
Smith with this team minus Queta would beat Duryea with this team and Queta by 25 points.
Though that probably says more about Duryea than it does about Queta or Smith.

The answer is actually a regression to the mean. Millers shooting in the new mexico series was an outlier, if I was working the data I would winsorize or truncate it like it never happened...

Re: Summarizing the new transfers / recruits
I think a nice stretch goal is 6 wins and a bowl game. We should be able to go 2-2 at a minimum in our non-conference games as I don’t see us losing to either North Dakota or NMSU. Going 4-4 in league games won’t be easy but doable. May depend on which games are at home and which are away. I think ...

Re: A Look at a Potential New Depth Chart
I have it on good authority that Crew Wakely is being moved to the quarterback room. He is the QB that Zach Wilson couldn't beat out at Jordan High forcing Wilson to transfer. He might affect this depth chart. I am pretty sure that wilson did not transfer because he couldnt beat out wakely. He tran...

Re: Maile's "three pillars" recruiting strategy (from the report)
The only one on the three pillars that I'm still in agreement with is "Locals." USU is a public school and should have representation from the state. It may not be the best players from the state, but USU has had a history of having some really good in-state talent. Obviously they should stretch ou...

Re: Karter Shaw in Transfer Portal
Is Shaw salvageable or is this a dead deal. Seems the staff is bringing in some great guys from the portal so far, so I have to think they've got some OL prospects out there. Karter Shaw may be open to staying. Stupid question I know, but why would he put his name in the transfer portal then? After...

Re: Who the New Coaches Are (UPDATED)
Excuse the ignorance, I am the first to admit I know very little about football schemes and philosophy. (I am a big football fan, but have never played more than a turkey bowl). What is the point of having a inside and an outside linebacker coach in a 4-2-5? If there are only 2 linebackers on the fi...

Re: Craziest stat of the season
I have not been paying close enough attention to know, but I wonder if other teams have started to game plan for Millers shooting more. So they are focusing more defense on him the past couple of games leading to him to shoot worse, but also leading to better opportunities for the other guys on the ...

Re: Just a thought
Aggies are playing great, 2 things worry me still.......free throw shooting and can we ask Miller to just not shoot, unless it’s a lay up? Miller is still shooting 38.6% on the year. But he does seem to shoot better when he shoots less. He should probably be shooting 3 or 4 threes a game when he ha...

Re: Queta Draft Buzz
How is Orlando Robinson from Fresno State projected to go before Queta? Both 7'0" centers, but I know which one I would prefer. I think if Queta took the off season to work on his outside shot and became a threat on the perimeter and came back and showed he could knock it down, his stock would sky ...

Re: The WAC is attempting to pull off a weird coup
All this effort to setup a conference for FBS alignment. I think the P5 or maybe even P4 minus the Pac12 move themselves into a separate division away from FBS and the NCAA in 5 or so years. I think that is the exact point. Once the P5 leave and become the P4 or P2, there could be an opportunity fo...

I also think the future is bright. HOWEVER, this isn't a cut & dried superstar guard lineup. That is a very small backcourt overall and could struggle defensively. Ashworth is very small (height & weight). Worster is also really struggling shooting the ball. I wouldn't crown them just yet. Don't wo...

I think this is good news. Will be interesting to see how the new staff uses him (safety, lb, or some type of hybrid position). Definitely. I'm hearing we are going to run a 4-man front. I hope we get some speed at OLB, then. We got killed on triple option and RPO on the edges. That needs to be add...

Guys, this Polynesian pipeline that you keep talking about is long gone. It's like saying we need to re-invest in Horse and Buggy because that worked for us in the past. No. The best Polynesian athletes all go to Pac-12 schools. Look at Oregon versus USC in the PAC-12 championship. For some reason ...

I'm guessing we are going away from the Gary Anderson formula for recruiting of RM's, Polys and Utah players.
