With the exception of possibly another freshman running back. I expect all our remaining spots to be filled by junior college transfers. I also expect us to add 5 or 6 grad transfers as push forwards over the summer. So is this 5 to 6 JC guys in February or thereabouts, and 5 to 6 grad transfers ov...

We should all be hoping for Jordan to go as high as possible. It's great for the program.

Nope. Linebacker. I don't know if he'll be an ILB or OLB though.

Re: Last TO

Since they called timeout to discuss the situation (up 5 with 8.9 seconds), I truly expected Smith to implement a plan that would have ensured victory after Merrill's free throws seemed to put us out of harm's way. For example, I thought we would employ a trapping, three-quarter court press to take...

It's kind of crazy to think that having a stretch 4 like Quinn was what made it all work last season.

Few schools have first round QBs waiting in the wings when a first round QB leaves. You recruit and develop accordingly to prepare for graduation or early departure.

Re: Staff Shakeup Ena out as DC

I'm not sure we can fairly evaluate next year's LBs from what we saw on the field this year. I have hopes for Simon Thompson if he's put on some good muscle after a year in the program, we'll have a couple of newcomers, and I wonder if Daniel Langi (was a great HS LB), or Justus Te'i will move from...

The line backers are interesting to me. While not experienced i feel we have some athletes. Duncan, hola, thompson, willingham are all very athletic. If they can get the system down they could do well. If magalei can get healthy. I think we might be surprised. Mata Hola might need a year to get bac...

Re: Staff Shakeup Ena out as DC

Hennger played DE at both USU and Utah, you may be right with Caden, Devon was one perhaps the only one that was strong enough to play inside, 265 is plenty big enough for a D.E. as is 260. I believe Baker was more in the 245 lbs range. Even though Nick was our best defensive ends at times, I still...

Re: Staff Shakeup Ena out as DC

Stacy will be in the box calling the D. Frank will be on the field. The lack of strength is a issue I believe was a big problem up front as does G.A. Perhaps with the young offensive linemen. Not the senior laden defensive line. Those guys were all played out of position. That's poor scheming. You ...

How much weight did Caden, Hale, or Devon put on ? If you do not buy into what I have said that's ok, but lis...

Re: Depth Chart conjecture with shifting back to 3-4 base defense

If Metzinheimer and Munos are the starting middle linebackers, we are in trouble. They struggle with lateral movement and just a step slow. Meitzenheimer tried his best but once he was asked to fill in for Woodward his lack of speed was exposed. Meitzenheimer is a good boundary player but when he i...

Re: Depth Chart conjecture with shifting back to 3-4 base defense

I did a quick compare of the 2018 roster to the 2019 roster. Here's what I found: We had 10 LBs in 2018 who returned in 2019 - HALF of them moved to DE in 2019 We had 8 DEs in 2018 who returned in 2019 - HALF of them moved to DT, one to TE So we had half of our returning LBs and DEs moved UP to a p...

I do think Derek Wright can play a bigger role in 2020 and Ajani will take a step forward in year 2. I remember someone saying that AJ Carter is switching to play corner next year, so I think that takes out another possible WR contributor. Or was that speculation and he will be playing WR? I haven'...

This is exactly what was said at today's press conference about the defense

On what defensive changes will be made in 2020: Frank Maile: “It's going to look similar to what you saw in 2018. So we're going to be a multiple odd front. A three-four defense is what we're going to be running, with the ability to get into some of the even fronts, with different coverages.” Stacy...

I think he saw an opportunity to further his career at Utah State so he stayed behind. A year later, he's added co-defensive coordinator to his resume'.
