Re: WSU coach in a pissing match with administration over vaccination

Seems like a stretch but Spokane sports writer wonders if teams will refuse to play the Cougs. This year because of unvaccinated coach. Cal schools could be under some goofy mandate, who knows?

You trust correctly AF! With you as the riding rules expert, and me. I'll pick up one of my locals for the 4th which will be needed to compete for a Tee-time. Incidentally, I won $26.00 this week in an old-men's tournament bringing my year's total to $59.00 in three tournaments and my life earnings ...

Attention golfers going to The WSU game

So far we have a threesome for golf Saturday morning and could use one more to fill out the foursome. Also could ask for more tee times if more than one more is interested. Can't get t-times until August 4th. Trying for about mid morning. Excellent course on campus. Also for all coming remember the ...

Re: Phil Steele’s thoughts on USU

Neither Athlon nor Lindy's had anything good say about the Aggies - both have them last In the Mountain division and only slightly ahead of UNLV conference wide. Also dead last in recruiting. I don't remember much of the discussion about spring ball on these pages. Would appreciate an update from my...

Official announcement today from the AD. Should be plenty of tickets but suggest getting them ASAP as WSU has not had a home game with fans since 2019.

Re: Jazz melt down

Thanks for the lively discussion. Actually, I wasn't trying to compare Queta and Golbert. Just my impression after watching a number of playoff games. My main point was that I sensed the Jazz were doomed very early in the third quarter even though they had a big lead, based entirely on watching but ...

Jazz melt down

is there anyone who thought the Jazz would hang on to win the 6th game after looking at the first 2-3 minutes of the 3rd quarter - 25 point lead notwithstanding? I don't watch many NBA games in the regular season but based on a few ply-off games, I think that Queta has a decent chance to play.

"Undersized" for the OL usually means the player is under 300 pounds these days. But for so many about 20 pounds or more hangs out over their belts and is not muscle. I'd put a 260 - 270 Merlin Olsen or Clark Miller up against any of today's linemen. Air Force does well with linemen in that range of...

We need to look for kick off time announcement. It could be anytime between noon and 9 PM. I'm guessing it will be a twilight game - about 4- 6 PM. If so I suggest that you bring your clubs for a round at Palouse Ridge on the WSU campus - a very nice course. Also plan to come to an "estate-gate" at ...

Yes in the olden days the big time schools would recruit and give scholarships to players just so they couldn't play for an opponent. The Michigan State national championship team of about 1967 graduated more than 100 players who never played a down in four years, according to an assistant coach who...

As a faculty member at a Pac-12 university for 45 years, I can attest to the academic expectations of member and prospective member schools among not only the administrations (presidents) but among the faculties as well. Yeah, the Gonzaga game was part of one of those odd tournaments where some games are played on campus. The game was not a result of negotiation between the two schools. I had been lobbying both ahools to play each other for 20 years and when it did happened I couldn't buy, beg, barrow or steal a tic...

Per former assistant coach. "We have tried to schedule Gonzaga for the past three years." About 20 years ago or longer USU and UI played in Martin Stadium on the WSU campus. We had a USU alumni social in the WSU Alumni house - a superbly renovated beef barn. The USU alumni association gave me a list of over 100 USU grads in the area who were invited. About 70 showed up for the social, re...

When it comes to post-season play, I can only hope we don't embarrass ourselves. Say we lose by only 5-8 points. It seems like it's always our 2 or 3 great players going against the other teams' 5 great players and has ever been so for 50 or more years.

I hope the preparation includes figuring out 1. How to get decent three-point shots for our guards and 2. How to make same. Matco and Rollie are pretty good slashers but we need better distance shooting. SDSU held Miller to what, 2-3 shots?

Idaho was indeed a member of the old Pacific Coast Conference as was Montana. Typically, teams would play Idaho one night and WSU the next....

Re: Beating a team thrice

"Hard to beat a team three times" is a common cliché but is there actually any studies to back up this claim? It has a lot to do with the relative quality of the teams. The Jazz would likely beat the 5th ward M-Man team 300 straight or 3,000 straight. Probably more true for teams of near equal quali...

According to all the talking heads, we have no chance for an at-large.. Boise's loss helps us solidify the third seed which is were we want to be to reach the finals. But let's win the next two anyway.
