Re: Transfer Portal Wants

Here's a link to the portal. Already some great QB names: https://247sports.com/Season/2021-Football/TransferPortal/ There is a QB very interested in USU that would be the highest-rated player in USU history by a LONG way. Who we hire as head coach and OC is a big deal in this case. HINT: He is NOT...

Re: So who do you hope it is?

Well, Matt Wells did come through when everyone here was calling for his head after the 2016 season. So we can hope he does enough to similarly save his job at Tech! We could also hopefully negotiate a high buyout for after only one season, you can hope Harrell doesn't ask for a penalty free clause ...

Re: Our team and program reminds me

We're in a better position with facilities and support and conference affiliation to be successful now than we were back then. Ryan Bohm has told us about this on the radio. When he played, they had meetings in the first aid room watching film on the old zenith TVs. And they would have to go all ove...

Re: How dud they miss this?

I hope Calhoun gets his wish and they leave the MW, mainly for the health of our players. And possibly we can't stop them  :bangwall: I can still remember a Wyoming fan warning me when we first entered the Mountain West about Air Force chop blocking, as they had been dealing with that for ye...

Re: Pitch Man

USU coaches need to go review the tape from the 2013 and 2014 seasons. Our first conference game in the MWC was the second game of the year in 2013. I can remember a lot of people saying that USU would not fare well playing Air Force and the triple option offense. The Aggies handily beat Air Force ...

We could always get Frank back

It has became obvious Frank is not ready to be the permanent head coach right now and that he is not who we fire GA to get. But maybe he would make a good head coach with more experience. And the sad thing is that it's looking unlikely we'll be able to keep him as an assistant next year. But when he...

Remember that this isn't the Sandbox. This thread should be about our coach, our team, our upcoming game but not for arguing about whether or not you should wear masks. Re: Available Tickets for BYU

We would easily get 1500 students for a game against BYU. 1500 students for a game against anyone else is a different story.

I would understand saying students only for BYU, then dropping to 500 students to 1000 public for other games.

Re: Coach Smith tests positive for COVID

Covid is weird. My daughter had it (definitely not a false positive), didn't self-isolate at all (did quarantine once she realized she had it), but none of the other family members got it. We all tested negative. We were around her plenty with no masks or other precautions taken. If you had to go t...

Re: List your top 5 candidates

If Ed Lamb has lost his fire to be a head coach, wouldn't he just not be a candidate by choice? That's what I thought about Gary. I had concerns about him being burned out from being a head coach, but then when he was hired back, thought that maybe he wasn't so burned out after all or he wouldn't h...

Re: List your top 5 candidates

My concern with Ed Lamb is NOT the fact that he is at BYU, but that he lost the fire and drive from being a head coach considering he resigned from being a head coach. We just fired one coach who was great taking over a team in the late 2000's before quitting in the mid 2010's. It's likely that Ed L...

They just fired their coach. I don't believe the "publicity stunt" had anything to do with it, and he likely would have still have been fired cause of his record if he would have just had the punter do the kicking, found someone on the team like a DB who kicked in high school, or just found any mal...

I'm salty from many straight losses to BYU, but I don't expect a hoops win until I see it.

When was the last time we beat them? It's been 8 or 9 meetings, hasn't it?
2011, I think. I too am not holding my breath on a win.

New Mexico did once have a girl kicker years ago when we played them, but she did not see action in the game against us. That was the game we know as the "lobo miracle". The girl did attempt a PAT in the bowl game later that year. The following year, she converted two PAT's late in a blowout win aga...

Some people get frustrated with kickers thinking we have a girl on the soccer team that could do better, but that actually became a reality for Vanderbilt. They ...

The old Wake Forest quarterback is starting for the Broncos

And not even the one who was the starting quarterback when we saw them in 2017 OR the one who was the starting quarterback when we saw they in 2019, but rather the one who saw the garbage minutes against us in 2017 and by 2019 wasn't even a quarterback anymore, and instead a receiver.

Another guy we got better by benching

Besides us getting better by getting rid of Shelley, another guy we got better by benching was Corner Zahodri Jackson, the guy who would keep getting burned by Boise State and Nevada, and would just stand there watching the guy walk in and go to the sideline smiling. He was amongst the leading tackl...

If we had the Peasley that played last night against Fresno we would have had chances to win that game. Our Defense gave us plenty of chances in the game but our O was a 3 and out machine.
