Re: No surprise but Groot is gone

I remember hearing Coach Smith say that there were some issues with his visa that would prevent him from staying another year. This is different.

Looks like the spring sports will get another year, but not winter sports.

That makes sense to me. Winter sports were almost finished.

Re: Sam Merrill on the Front Sports page of the Washington Post

I was upset that the tournament was a week early, because I like having the PAC12 people there also. Most years I catch at least one game of their tournament. But now, I am very happy that it was early. I was able to experience all the fun of the tournament which we wouldn't have been able to do if ...

Re: MWCT Final rebroadcast on CBSSN

The Porter foul which was not a foul and the Queta out of bounds if called correctly would have resulted in a five point difference in the score since Queta dunked on that play. The final should have been 58-50 for USU.

A good part of Smith's success is due to a player named Sam Merrill. If my memory serves me right Sam was here long before Smith became coach. I want to see how Smith can do with his own players before he is crowned king forever. Not to be misunderstood, I do like what he has done the past two seaso...

Re: Let's Just Enjoy Sam Frickin' Merrill's Last Performance

I'm glad the Aggies at least got to play in a conference tournament. The Aggies are one of a few teams that end their season with a tournament win. It was fun to go down on the floor and celebrate the win. Even with the hick-ups in January, it was a fun season. Thank you Coach Smith and thank you se...

Re: Media Post-Season MWC Awards

I think Jessop had the highest scoring average for the conference. That alone puts him ahead of Mitchell. Mitchell played well against the Aggies, but had some other games where he was just above average. I think the student chants last year got to Mitchell and put a target on the Aggies back.

Pepperdine, San Diego, Portland and San Francisco would easily be top 5 teams in the Mountain West. Don't think so 22. SDSU, USU, Nev would all be ahead of them. I see them more like UNLV. But, but the know-it-all fans and media from Salt Lake and Utah county all say it's true. Are they wrong? Gotc...

Is he still waiting to be recruited or is he a USU recruit now. Rollie Worster seems like the kind of player to be able to have that kind of career. Hope we don't have to wait another 12 years like we did between Jaycee and Sam.

The only was USU hosts an NIT game is if they lose to a team they are supposed to beat. I think they are in the NCAA if they win the last two regular season games and at least one tournament game in Las Vegas.

When Smith was asked about it his response was that there already is tampering going on. You have to have players that want to be at your school. If they are not happy and don't want to play for you then his thoughts are "goodbye, we don't need you."
